I haven't really posted in a while, but I don't really have that much to report. I know you're all dying to know about my progress with the triathlon, so I guess I will talk about that!
Let me first say that wow--I had no idea it would cost this much to get involved! I've paid for the race itself, workout clothes (I had some, but needed to add more), and I bought a gym pass so that I can train. But it's all in the name of health and fitness, right? And it's worth it to be in shape! That's what I'm telling myself!! And Natalie says that it's an investment because we'll do more. We shall see! She might. I might not! Ha.
I've talked to friends who have done triathlons and they have given me some great advice. I've been going to the gym 6 days a week usually and switching off practicing each of the three events. I'll have you know that I don't really consider myself "good" at any of these, but I think I am a fairly athletic person! The first time on the treadmill running last week at the gym, I ran 2.5 miles and it took 26 minutes with no walking! I jogged the entire time. This is huge for me, people!! Not too shabby right? This week I ran 3 miles in 30 minutes. For the race, the running is last and is 3 miles.
I also went to a spin class yesterday (which I hear is good practice for a tri) and it was hard, but I kept up! Luckily before I joined the gym, I had been doing a workout video about 3 times a week, so it wasn't like I was starting from nothing, which helped! I liked the spin class and I think I'll try to do that twice a week.
I am really not a good swimmer! I had a friend give me a little class a couple weeks ago and it really helped. I don't have great endurance, but I'm trying to swim 3 times a week to get that up so I can do 300 meters. Yikes! They say that's the hardest event usually, unless you're a swimmer. I pulled my mountain bike I got as a teenager out of the shed the other day and found a groupon for a bike tune up! Perfect!! Once it starts to get nicer, I'll have to ride outside and that will be a good option.
I'm also trying to do two events together at least once a week. The other day I biked for 30 minutes, then ran for 30 minutes, so I'm gonna try to keep that up!
Last Saturday I took Molly to Target for their Dr. Suess reading day. I should have brought my camera, but it was a bit of a crazy morning (Justin took my car and I didn't know it) and it was a snowy morning! But it was really cute and pretty quiet, and Molly really enjoyed listening to the books. They gave each child a small reusable bag filled with coloring pages, coupons, and some snacks. It was fun!
Other than that, we are moving Alison to one nap and that is a bit tricky! Some mornings she wants a nap and other days she goes down at 1 pm. It has been tricky figuring out a gym schedule when it kind of changes from day to day, but we'll figure it out!
Justin has been busy with a big brief and he had oral arguments last week. Now that that's over life is a bit less stressful, but he always has something!

i loved the tri update! so fascinating to me, a person who has never done one. i'm really impressed with your dedication!
p.s. thanks for the lindsay brin recommendation. i think i'm going to get her prenatal video.
i agree with erin - i loved the tri update too. i would so love to do one someday - but i am pretty positive i could never do the swimming part.
but it sounds like you are doing great and staying on track. awesome. i'm jealous - sounds like fun to me! :)
You are doing awesome! It took me a few months of training to be able to run 3 miles in 30 minutes! No fair! :) I'm definitely impressed.
Wow, you are wonder woman! I think that's so great you are doing a triathlon and it sounds like you will be ready!
Oh my, talk about dedication. You are working hard, girl! Nice job.
I'm impressed period. Really I am. Can you somehow motivate me to get in shape?
I think Jake might be ready for just one nap-he is not a sleeper! I hate the transition phase.
I'm so impressed!
