American Idol

Be honest, who are you hoping wins it all this year? For me, I'm really not sure at this point. Although after tonight I think Anoop and Megan will be in the bottom 3. Not positive about the other spot. I think they both picked bad songs. I'm not familiar with the Usher song that Anoop sang, and it really wasn't very upbeat. And what was Megan thinking? The judges had her right-it was boring and like the same few notes in the whole song. She really needed to wow everyone tonight and she was way off.

What did you think?

Treasure

If you went to Oakdale Elementary, you may remember After School Workshops. Or you might not! I made this bunny at one of those and my mom just discovered it! Emily made one too (we will save yours to show you).

So now you know where I get my craftiness! lol. Don't you miss mauve and blue?! On the bottom of the bunny is my name and 93! So that would make me 10 when I made this. Not too bad, right? I thought I definitely needed a picture before she finds a new home.

David Archuleta

Last night Emily, Natalie, Becky, my mom and I went to the David Archuleta concert at the E Center!! Ha ha! It was actually quite a lot of fun for many reasons.

We didn't get a pic with mom and Becky because they came in a different car and were a bit aways from us, although Nat went and sat by Becky and my mom came over by me and Emily. We were sitting in this pic on the rail of the balcony which is why I look like I'm going to fall forward ;)

Here he is!! There were 2 openers for him. What?! Isn't one plenty? I certainly thought so, especially since it took the stage crew about 15 minutes for each one to set up. Not to mention that before David came on, we literally waited 30 minutes, no lie! It was ridiculous! The concert started at 7:30 with Benton Paul singing, then another girl sang and David didn't get on stage until 9:30! Good thing all the 12 and 13 yr old girls were chanting David and Archie. Ha ha!

Here he is at the piano. He actually played a few at the keyboard. This was during his encore. He came back out by himself and played two songs there.

Okay, now this part is hilarious! This is when he sang his famous song "Crush". If you look at the picture, the two girls in from the left apparently won a contest and got to be on stage for the song. David sang the first part of the song, then when he got to the chorus, he sang to each girl for a minute. It was the most AWKWARD thing ever! The girls got up on stage and had no idea what to do! They were kind of dancing, but I'm sure they felt stupid! Anyway, that was quite funny.

Here's a little recording I took. Enjoy!

It was actually quite fun to be there. The crowd was seriously going crazy all the time, jumping, singing. It was very entertaining to watch all these teenie boppers get soo excited about the songs. He was quite the showman. He wasn't all shy like in AI, but it was hard for him to say anything because the girls were always screaming!

BYU

Another waitlist! Ahh! But hey, last time it was a no, so we're moving up! I wonder now if we'll get two no's to follow the pattern! We'll see. Our decision seems to be relatively simple at this point. We still have to hear from Pepperdine in CA and UNC.

W&M

Today we heard back from William and Mary...he's on the wait list. Darn it! We were on a roll there for minute, but they don't last forever, unfortunately. The good thing is that at least it's a maybe and not no yet!

Last year we were in the same position with them and waited all the way until orientation to find out they had no spots left. But this year we obviously have more options. I think Justin would really like this school, but unless by some miracle they find a place for him in a month, we're probably not headed there. Three schools left.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Justin today! The big 2-6, getting closer to 30! Ha ha. Justin worked tonight, so we didn't really have a great celebration this evening, but we celebrated in Star Valley over the weekend.

Molly and I love you so much! We are so lucky to have you in our lives. You are thoughtful, kind, funny, entertaining, smart, good looking and a great husband and dad to name a few. Thanks for all you do for us! We hope this is a great year for you.

XOXO,
Nicole and Molly

2 for 2

Today Justin received an acceptance letter from the University of Missouri in Columbia! So we're thinking 2 for 2 is pretty dang good! This school was Justin's ace in the hole, but I highly doubt we'll end up here. We're hoping the pattern continues with the rest of the schools!

Today Molly has thrown up twice! This is the first time she's ever thrown up (besides when she was a super spitty baby!). We feel so bad for her but we're hoping it's just a 24 hour flu type of a thing. We're in Star Valley and she was in the nursery yesterday with about 10 kids, which is 8 more than she's used to (Molly is one of two in our nursery at home)! We think she may have picked up something there. Hopefully she's better tomorrow for the long drive home.

Clarification

Just to clarify, Justin was accepted to the U, but we will wait to hear from the other 6 schools before deciding where to attend law school. We haven't told them we're in for sure yet. This just tells us that he will for sure be attending somewhere! We'll keep everyone posted!

GREAT news!

Justin was accepted to the University of Utah's law school today!! He received a phone call today from them and texted me; then he called me. We are VERY excited and RELIEVED! This is the first we've heard back from any school, so we are anxious to hear from the rest now.

And for those of you wondering, we will ALWAYS bleed blue no matter what :) ha ha.

Luggage

This is for you Nat--

The other day I was at Home Goods/TJ Maxx. I was on the home goods side and was walking around and found this bag. I thought it was so cute and thought, how perfect would that be for a little over nighter or a weekend trip to SV? And you just couldn't beat the price. At that point I thought of Becky Bloomwood from Confessions of a Shopaholic.

“Luggage! Suitcases and holdalls and stuff like that. As I wander around the department, looking at Louis Vuitton suitcases and calfskin bags, I’m quite thrown. Quite shocked by myself. Why on earth have I never considered luggage before?”

Ha ha. I remembered that part of the book while checking out the bag and just had to laugh at myself.

Isn't the lining cute? It has some great pockets.

Molly is also quite thrilled about the bag.

Who knows what I'll find in it when I'm ready to use it?

Couldn't help myself

Ok, this is too funny. Molly is at the age/stage where she thinks she needs to crawl over something that's at a different level. That probably doesn't make much sense, but watch her in this video and it will! We saw her do this and were laughing so hard! She did it every time!

Finally

Yay! I've found some cute spring plates. Now you don't have to listen to me whine about them anymore!!

Not what I expected...

I know you've all been wondering what plates I chose! Ok, so at least I know my sisters are curious because they both have already asked me this week :) Well I finally got them today, but I have good and bad news.

Bad News: The bad news you can read in the pic below:

They're appetizer plates!! What?! I wanted salad/dessert plates!!

The most frustrating thing is that I specifically called customer service and asked what size they were because for some reason the webpage didn't list the size (weird, don't you think?). The lady told me she didn't know and there wasn't really a way to find out basically--does that make any sense to you? I said um, how about you call the warehouse and see if someone can go get the plates and check? She said they can't do that. So I'm waiting on the phone for her because there has to be SOMETHING they can do. She talks to a couple of people while I'm holding, takes my number and says she'll call me back the next day. She never does.

In the meantime I had already sent an email to the company asking what size they are (I did this before I decided to call). So the next ay or so I got an email back saying that they were salad sized plates.

So then I ordered the plates thinking they were the size I wanted to fit in my plate rack. Today when they arrived they obviously were appetizer plates. Now I don't know about you, but I have no use for appetizer plates! So I call customer service telling them this whole story and that if they will pay for shipping, I will gladly return them.

Good News: After holding, the rep tells me that they will credit the money I've paid back to me and that I can just keep the plates and do what I want with them! Crazy, huh? I said 'are you sure?' They said there was no way to have them pay for shipping so that's what they decided.

Anyone want to buy them from me? ;) ha ha. I'm really sad though because I think they are so cute, they're just not big enough to sit in my plate rack :(

Luck O' the Irish

This is about as much as I've ever done to celebrate/decorate for St. Patrick's Day. Do you decorate for St. Patty's day?

Well, here's the shamrocks we made. The wood is from The Wood Connection.

And then here's the rest of the things I've collected for the holiday. The bouquet and candles I got at Michael's on sale. The pillow says Happy St. Patty's Day and I got it at the Quilted Bear on sale. And the pitcher and candlestick holders I already had. Now I'm somewhat festive :)

Tutu Tutorial

If you have a little girl (or girls/nieces/etc.) and want a fun craft or gift, then this is for you! I found this tutorial today and it sounds sooo easy! You don't even need a sewing machine, it's that easy. Just thought I'd share.

Here's the link for the tutu tutorial:

Aprons

I volunteered to make 4 aprons for the girls coming into RS at our next Enrichment activity in a couple of weeks (I'm on the enrichment committee). My mom has made several aprons with dishtowels and said they were really easy, so here they are. All you do is buy a dish towel, fold it in half, slice off part, then fold and press over the sides you cut, sew the edge so it's finished, and then add ribbon.
Ta da! Aren't these dishtowels cute? They're from Rod Works.

Does your child/baby love to look in the mirror? Ours sure does!

Placed my order

Alright, I took your votes and have placed my order for easter plates! I will post a pic once I receive them so you'll know which ones I decided on! Hopefully they'll be here next week :)

Easter Plates Poll!

Ok, so I've been looking some more and what do you vote? Keep in mind they will be displayed on a horizontal plate rack on the wall. Most likely we won't eat off of them!
A. Polka dot and striped plates
B. Williams-Sonoma vintage bunny plates
C. Bunny party plates
Which ones would you pick?!

Searching

I have been trying to find some Easter salad/dessert plates for my plate rack and haven't been successful yet. These I found on Ebay. But I lost in the race since they went for $59!!! Crazy! So keep an eye out for me!

The Wood Connection

Today I went over to the Wood Connection in Murray. It's a little store that sells all sorts of wood-frames, plaques, seasonal shapes and objects, etc. And it is THE COOLEST PLACE EVER! My mom and sister have been several times, but I had never been. Today when I got there I felt like they had been keeping a secret from me! This place is CRAFTER'S HEAVEN, no joke! They have ideas displayed, then kits for sale with everything you need. All you do is sand, paint, and embellish! I was quite thrilled with all of the possibilities.

Here's the address if you are in the vicinity:
6680 S. 300 W. Murray, UT.

Essentially, it's located just southwest of Fashion Place Mall, right by the trax. I also picked up a flyer saying they'll have an "embellishment workshop" this Saturday, the 7th, from 11 am-3 pm anytime with their designer there giving her tips! I'm going to try to make it and I'd love company!

Oh and I picked up a shamrock that I'm going to decorate...I'll post pics when I'm done!
