I liked it

Last night I watched the movie P.S. I Love You with my MIL. I hadn't heard a whole lot about it, but Justin and his dad were at a father/son campout (yes, I know he's a bit old! :) We're in SV and his dad is in the YM's) so Shelley and I wanted to watch a chick flick since we knew that the boys may not be so interested.

I really liked the movie! I will warn you that it is sad and you will cry (even if you are really strong like me and hardly ever cry!), but it is totally worth it. I think in the end it makes you want to be kinder to those you love. I liked all of the actors (most of them you'll know) and thought they did a good job in their different roles.

For my memory

Note: I just wanted to write down somewhere a few things that Molly is doing right now since I don't have them recorded anywhere yet (I wish I was a little better with my journal). It's a bit long.

Here goes--Molly for the past month or so has turned into a screamer. We aren't quite sure why. Does this mean that she just likes to hear her voice? Is she going to be a singer or a jabberbox when she's older? Or is she really that bored all the time?!!

Also, she loves to hold and snuggle with her stuffed animals. I didn't know that not every baby does this until somewhat recently. She has a stuffed animal of Tigger and we give it to her every night when she goes to bed or when she takes a nap. Without fail, once she's asleep, it's right on top of her face.

Another thing she has always loved to do is touch and hold things. It can be anything, but she loves to feel everything. That's one reason I made the little taggie blanket because she loves to feel anything, especially if it soft. Again, I'm not sure if all babies do this, but she has to feel everything. If you are wearing a zipper, she wants to touch. If you have a necklace on, she wants to touch (I know this one is common, along with earrings).

She seems to always have to be where the party is or find out who's talking or what's going on. She has always been such an alert baby. When she was brand new if her eyes were open, they were all the way open.

A couple nights ago she wouldn't eat and she had a fever just under 102 and so we're thinking that she might be getting some teeth. We still haven't seen or felt any signs, but we can't really figure out what else that might be. She still hasn't sat up by herself, but hopefully soon! And no crawling either.

And lastly, she's at the stage where she always wants to be held. Who knows, maybe we've spoiled her (well I know she's spoiled in many ways, but I'm specifically referring to holding her) but I think that kind of comes from being the first grandchild on the Pendleton side and we happen to live with my parents, so we often see my parents who love to hold her as well. I guess maybe we should be kicking ourselves for this one!

The Host

I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in on Stephenie Meyer's new book, The Host. First off, I absolutely loved the first three books in the Twilight Series (and I'm so excited for the last book to come out in a few months!). This new book had pretty high expectations to meet if you ask me!

I liked the book, but I didn't love it. I could definitely set it down and come back later. I probably read it as quickly as I did because I was trying to finish to give it to someone else to read. This isn't to say that it wasn't good, because I think it was good, but it was just a little too far out, sci-fi, for me. It was also a bit long I thought.

However, Stephenie Meyer is an incredible writer and very talented and I'm sure there are many people out there who would disagree with me!

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day some of the family was able to go to Orem to visit my grandma's grave. Shown in this picture is Justin, Molly and I, Emily and Zack, Becky and Lexie (Ryan is out of town), my mom, Natalie, Major and Mitt and my grandpa.
It rained on and off, but we were able to be at the cemetery when it wasn't raining, so that was nice!

Hawaii pics

Mission accomplished! Justin, his dad, and his dad's missionary companion won the pink lady team tournament! They managed to keep the pink ball, despite hitting it in the lava rock and had the lowest score out of all the teams. They each walked away with about 70 bucks!

After church on Sunday. After the meeting they sang Aloha Oe to all of the visitors and gave us all leis (I gave Molly mine) and the flowers I'm holding. Hawaiians are such nice people.
Enjoying the pool. We all needed a tan if you couldn't tell!

Dinner at Tommy Bahama's.

Molly really wanted to try the pina colada cake.

Our little hawaiian baby with her lei.
The vacation is now over :( so back to reality. We had such a great time. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to this annual golf tournament, held every May at the Mauna Lani Hotel. We hope to be able to go again sometime! We are so grateful that Justin's parents invited us to come along with them. Thanks so much!

Paradise

Wow. This has seriously been an awesome trip. My massage yesterday was AMAZING! It was the nicest spa I could ever imagine! They start you with a foot bath and then my massage was outside in a little hut! It was called the Lomi Lomi Hula. It's pretty much a massage with Hawaiian music in the background. It was a full hour! Then you get to have a shower in one of their outside showers using the cocanilla shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that smells wonderful. They even have disposable razors there, combs and brushes, hairblowers, deoderant, gel, a sauna and steam room!

Last night we ate at Tommy Bahama's. Very good food. I had the stuffed chicken that had a cream cheese and red peppers oozing out, so good! After that we walked around the shops there and they had a little performance with hula dancers that was fun to watch.

This morning was beautiful and Molly and I were by the pool. She slept while I read a book, then we got in the pool when she awoke. I had a lily choi (sp?) shake with my BLT sandwich for lunch that again, did no disappoint! I don't know how I'm going to be able to leave this place!!

Aloha

We've arrived (well yesterday) and we are so happy to be here! The resort is beautiful and the warm air feels amazing! Molly did a great job on the plane. We hope our flight home is as great as it was out here. For the record, everything was MUCH smoother this time around compared to our last trip.

Today I got a pedicure and manicure, so I'm getting used to being in paradise! I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow. This morning Justin, Molly and I went to the pool around 8 am and it was great. The temperature of the water was perfect, the sun was out, the sky was blue, and Molly loved being in her little tube!

We've taken some pics, but I don't think I have the correct tool to put them on the computer, so those will come later.

Happy Anniversary!

I know this sounds horrible, but I keep forgetting that today is our 3 year anniversary! Apparently I have Hawaii on my mind :) (I will have you know that I told Justin Happy Anniversary before he told me!!) But, so you know, we decided we'd celebrate in Hawaii. We have really been lucky when it comes to anniversaries...the first year we were in Europe...the second we were in Park City...and this year Hawaii.

We were married on Friday the 13th and it was a wonderful day. I remember that the whole week had been kind of rainy and the sky overcast, but Friday morning when I woke up there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful spring day and perfect for our wedding. Besides my wedding bouquet arriving seriously the moment we were pulling out of the driveway, everything went so perfectly.

I am so grateful and thankful to have Justin in my life. He is such a wonderful husband and father. He's smart, fun, funny, strong, good looking, talented, thoughtful and kind. I love you, Justin!

Bon voyage!

Well, we tried pretty hard to get Molly weaned, but to no avail! Apparently she wanted to come to Hawaii with us, so that's what's going to happen. We certainly had quite the experience on our last trip to Georgia, so hopefully we've learned something by now, like make sure your DL is current, make sure you bring all of your bags (I know that sounds dumb, but we forgot one last time!) and wonderful things like that.

The ultimate test was seeing if Molly would take a bottle this morning at her first feeding (5 am) but she was sooo mad! It totally didn't work. And my wonderful sister Natalie was so willing to take her, but who could do that to a good sister? Certainly not me.

But I'm sure we'll have fun with her. I really just plan on hanging out by the pool, so it won't be a big deal having Molly there too. Plus we'll get some great pics with her in her swimming suits. Hopefully she'll like playing with the sand and being in the pool!

We leave tomorrow, so here's to a good trip and a well behaved baby!! :)

Yesterday and Today

Today--
I finished the wall hanging! Just so you're aware, this was like an all day project for the past 3 or 4 days. So it's not like I can whip these out! Shelley really wanted it finished and so luckily I had enough help here and there with Molly so I could get it finished.

Yesterday--

I went to visit Becky Lancaster yesterday. It was so fun to see her! I'm so glad that we get to see them when we visit Star Valley! (And we are forever indebted to Adam and Becky for setting us up on a blind date!) Anyway, we went to the Red Baron for lunch (the little drive in right by their place) and then we hung out with the kiddos. Then we went out for a walk which kind of ended short because it started raining on us! It was a bit bright!

It looks like Molly's asleep, but she really just blinked. Maybe one day we'll have to set them up when they're older :) Thanks for the fun afternoon, Becky and Colt!

And this one should be up with the other picture, but I mixed up the order. Here's the wall hanging hung up on their bedroom wall where it will stay.

This and that

I was getting the laundry the other day and thought I'd see if Molly wanted to go for a ride. I think she was tired, because I've tried this before and she's never very happy about it. But this time she didn't really care.

Monday night we drove up to Star Valley. Justin is looking for a job and his parents said they would hire him to do some jobs at their home, so we drove up and will stay until Friday or Saturday.
Molly and I went for a walk yesterday. It was so nice! We just walked up and down the lane, but we had fun! I got this little hat for Molly when she's out in the sun. She actually kept it on! I was a bit surprised and happy about that!

And then here was my project while here: this wall hanging for my MIL, Shelley. She bought a kit to make a quilt, but we changed the pattern so it was smaller and simpler (just squares and rectangles instead of these other blocks that would have taken WAY more time). Anyway, here is most of the top, except the borders (there will be two). I'll have to take a picture when I have
both borders on. This is going to go in her room on the wall.

Here's a close up.
