Calendar tutorial

I posted here recently about this 2011 calendar I found online but none of you seemed really excited about it. Well I had a plan and I will share it with you. I don't really take credit for this idea because it's been done SO MUCH and is nothing new. But here it is anyway, from me!

Print out the calendar (click on the link above to find the document) on cardstock (keep in mind I did all white, but you could mix it up however you like). Cut out each month and find your scraps! I used fabric, but you could use any embellishment. I cut mine 2 1/4 in. by 3 3/4 in. but you could do any size you want. All I did was sew around it in a rectangle. If you want to get fancy, you could do diagonal lines. But I was all for easy and quick!

Here are mine. I sometimes coordinated the fabric with the holiday for the month. Others I just used whatever I had.

Here are all of the months

And a close up of next months-January!

Ok for the next part. Buy some cd jewel cases, or better, use some you already have! (We have recycled all of ours so I actually had to buy some, but they aren't too expensive)

Then you will carefully bend the case back so it sits like this. You are using this as a stand for the calendar if you didn't already figure that out ;)

Then set your calendar on! It works best with only one month (or a few) at a time. The little bar at the bottom can't hold all of them.

Then wrap it up and give it away (or keep it!)! Cellophane and ribbon always do the trick, don't ya think?

These would be great Christmas gifts, New Year's gifts, visiting teaching gifts, teacher gifts, or a great gift for yourself!! These are great to sit right by your computer or on a desk for quick reference.

That calendar is perhaps THE cutest thing I have even seen in my entire life. I'm beyond excited about it. How lucky will the receiver of this gift be!

I'm a friend of your sister Emily's. She showed me your blog a while ago when you had some cute flowers you had made for your girls. I LOVE this calendar idea, I made one for my husband yesterday and I'm so excited about it. Thanks for sharing!
