Day 11

Today was a better day. I actually saw the pediatrician while I was at the hospital this morning and he put my mind to ease a bit. Yesterday was a bit difficult because I was getting frustrated that she wasn't progressing (in my mind) like I thought she should. Well the doctor said that she really is doing great and I'm looking at the wrong perspective. She gained 47 grams, which is an ounce and a half! In one day! Good job, Alison!! Keep it up and then you will be big so you can eat more and come home! She also had a really great feeding, so that made me feel better as well. He also said that because I am breast feeding her that that is a gift and she thanks me for that. I thought it was kind of funny how he said it, but I guess it's true?! Still no time line. It's just hard to say when she'll be able to get off that feeding tube.

It was also pointed out to me that she has such great care there since they are such a small hospital. If she were somewhere bigger, there would be like 50 babies with machines beeping all the time. Currently, she is in her little incubator with a navy blue solar system looking blanket over to keep it dark and quiet so she doesn't have to burn any calories by being distracted with noise or movements.

We are so grateful to all the nurses who are working so hard to keep Ali happy and well. At this point we pretty much know all of the people who work there in the nursery and we appreciate them putting up with us and answering all of our questions.

You are doing so great! Just keep your head up, she needs this help right now and before you know it she will be home! She really is doing amazing... I promise, I know how hard it is for them to get that feeding down... I'm also impressed with the ounce and a half gain! Don't worry, you will have years and years to have her at home! :)

She'll make it home soon! It's a tough thing to learn how to eat!

I am so glad she is gaining weight and doing well. I am sure it is hard to not have her home. Hang in there! You are in our prayers.
