Day 10

I don't really have much to report today. Alison is still working on getting strength to nurse or bottle feed for every feeding and gaining weight in order to come home. But she is still tired and has to use the tube from time to time. She is slowly gaining weight. Yesterday she gained 8 grams and today 18, so you can see it is slowly but surely! My schedule is still going in at 9 am, 3 pm and then 9 pm each day. Sometimes she has really good feedings and sometimes just fair, but we are being patient and staying the course.

The nurse told me yesterday that we could bring her in clothes to wear, so we brought her in a long sleeved white onesie (I know it sounds boring but her bow is red and white striped and I don't have anything red!). I have some preemie clothes, but I think she is too long! She is really skinny and has long arms and legs. She is 18 1/2 inches long and I think preemie goes to like 17 inches or so.

oh I'm sure she is darling, like a little candy cane.......that's good news she is LONG, maybe even after this preemie state, she'll turn out to be TALL!!! ;)

I hope she keeps gaining weight for you! And that's amazing that she is so long--the same as Abbey was when she was born. :)

Brooke was 18 inches and 19 at her 2 weeks appointment and the clothes still fit her (except the jammies I told you about)! Weird. Maybe Allison has longer legs or something! I hope she gets to go home soon.

I am so proud of you for being so patient! I think I would rip my hair out.

Both my girls were 18.5 inches long. I had a few premie outifts too and they fit into them for about a month. Hopefully you'll get at least a little wear out of them :). I'm glad she's still improving!

Nicole- My mom told me about little Alison in the hospital. I am so sorry you guys have to spend so much extra time in the hospital when all you want is to have her healthy and HOME with you! Our little Ethan spent 10 days in the NICU when he was born and it was one of the hardest things we went through so my heart goes out to you and your little family... especially while helping Molly understand it all. I hope she can grow stronger and come home soon! You and Alison are in our prayers!
Love,
